Exam Types

An Exam may be one of three types: Closed-book; Open-book; or Restricted Open-book.

Each Exam must be given an Exam Type, which is determined by the Permitted Materials that students are allowed to use during the exam.

The Exam Type does not affect any functionality, it only provides information about the exam to students and invigilators.

There are currently three exam types to choose from. Should you wish to add a new exam type, contact CampusQ.

Choose one of the following exam types:

Closed-book

No materials are allowed.

During Closed-book exams students must not have any objects in their workspace, other than their computer equipment and their mobile phone. They are expected to keep their eyes on their computer screen, as they will not need to refer to any other source of information.

Generally, during a Closed-book exam, invigilatorPlus will automatically switch to Full Screen Mode once the exam commences. There are some exceptions to this, such as when a reference document or formula sheet has been provided with the exam and needs to be opened in a separate browser tab.

Open-book

Students are free to use any materials that they wish to, with no restrictions.

Restricted Open-book

Students may use any materials they wish to from a specified list of Permitted Materials, which is provided by teaching staff.
