Creating a rule set for invigilatorPlus exams.
At the start of each exam, students are presented with the exam rules. You will need to copy your current exam rules into invigilatorPlus.
Some exam rules may be governed by customisable settings for each individual Exam:
- Permitted materials that students can use during the exam can be allowed and customised.
- Copy and paste events can be either disabled or enabled.
- Opening new tabs can be either disabled or enabled.
- Right-click events can be either disabled or enabled.
If your organisation has not conducted online, remote exams before, here are some rules to consider including:
- Food and/or drink: will you allow it?
- Smoking or vaping: will you allow it?
- Pets: are they allowed in the exam room?
- Children and babies: are they allowed in the exam room?
- Other people: are they allowed in the exam room?
- You must not be out of camera view: Your face, chin to forehead, needs to be in full view at all times.
- No copying or capturing of exam content.
- Only one monitor and one computer allowed.
- Languages used: will translation tools be allowed? Must the browser/computer default language be English?
- Grammar and AI applications: is their use allowed?
- Speakers and a microphone must be used. Headsets, earphones, ear buds are not allowed.
- Toilet breaks: will you allow them?
- Your face must be well-lit. No non-religious headwear allowed.
- Your work area must be well-lit.
- Given that it is difficult to distinguish between an analogue watch and a smartwatch, can watches be worn?
- No speaking aloud, except to the invigilator.
When the rules are finalised they can be added to an Exam: Edit Exam Rules
Rules can also be batch-added to exams by staff accounts with ‘API’ enabled.
Ideally, exam rules should also be made available to students prior to their exam via your institution’s online learning platform.
