Special Consideration settings

Create individualised exam settings for students requiring varied exam conditions.

Special consideration settings must be applied for each separate exam that a student requiring varied exam conditions undertakes.

Settings must be entered into invigilatorPlus within 7 days of the exam date, at the very latest.

Available settings

The following options may be specified:

Extended Exam Time

This setting informs the exam invigilator that the student has been allocated extra time over the default exam duration, which may range from 30–120 minutes. The default setting is ‘No Extra Time Granted’.

Breaks During Exam

The available options are:

  • None
  • Flexible
  • Pre-Scheduled.

Provision for further details, such as a break schedule and break duration, are not provided within invigilatorPlus.

Use Alternate Exam Settings

Turn this setting on to override the exam settings for the Exam for just this particular student.

Alternate Exam Settings

If ‘Use Alternate Exam Settings’ is activated, turn each of these settings on or off as required. Each one must be set.

  • Force Full Screen Mode
  • Disable Right Click
  • Disable Copy Paste
  • Disable Open New Tab

Choose any of the options below to describe the exam conditions that this student will be using. These have no technical effect on the functionality of invigilatorPlus, rather they are used to inform the invigilator about the exam conditions specific to this student. Some options may affect the application of the exam rules, so it is important to complete them.

Applying the settings

Step 1. Navigate to the Exam

  • Select the ‘Exams’ section from the left-hand side navigation.
  • Select ‘Search Exams’.
  • Select the relevant Exam by clicking on its Exam Name.

Step 2. Create individual settings for each Student

In the ‘Students’ section:

  • Hit the hyperlinked First Name of the Student whose settings you want to adjust.
  • Select the ‘Special Consideration’ tab. (You may need to scroll down to find it.)
  • Hit the pencil icon in the top right-hand corner of the tab to edit.

Select the appropriate options:

  • Extended Exam Time: This is extra time over the default exam duration.
  • Breaks During Exam: None | Flexible | Pre-Scheduled
  • Use Alternate Exam Settings: Select this to override the default Exam Settings, then turn the following options on or off as required.
    • Force Full Screen Mode
    • Disable Right Click
    • Disable Copy Paste
    • Disable Open New Tab
  • Select any other requirements from the ‘Test Environment’ and ‘Technical’ categories.
  • Hit the ‘Save’ button.
  • Repeat for each student in the group.

Special Consideration preparation is now complete.

A report outlining all Special Consideration settings can be generated and downloaded.
