Create Exam on invigilatorPlus

How to create a single exam on invigilatorPlus.

In most cases you will add exams to invigilatorPlus using the API to import data from your LMS. However, should you need to add a single exam, follow the steps described.

All of the fields on the Add Exam page are required, so ensure your exam schedule has been completed before attempting to create a new Exam.

  • Select ‘Exams’ from the left-hand side navigation.
  • Hit ‘Add Exam’ to create a new exam.
  • Complete the following Exam Details:
    • Department: Select from the dropdown menu – a Department needs to have been created before you can create an Exam.
    • Term: Select from the dropdown menu – a Term needs to have been created before you can create an Exam.
    • Exam Name: Copy and paste the name from the corresponding LMS exam.
    • Exam Type:  Select an option from the dropdown menu.
    • Check-in Time*: This is usually set 30 minutes before Start Time. 
    • Start Time*: The time from which students can start the exam. 
    • Cut-off Time:  A time period between 5 minutes and 2 hours from the Start Time, after which a student will no longer be able to access the Exam. The Cut-off Time should be adjusted according to the size of the exam cohort. Larger cohorts may have more students experiencing technical barriers to exam entry and require a longer allowance for all students to resolve any issues and then complete onboarding.
    • Duration: A time period matching the length of the exam, which can be set to between 15 minutes and 5 hours 15 minutes.
    • Exam URL: Copy and paste the URL (web address) from the corresponding exam created in your LMS.
    • Active: Checked by default.
  • Hit the ‘Save’ button.
  • The Exam you created will now appear in the list of Exams.
  • You should now edit the Exam Details:
  • If required, you can now add Sub Exams.
  • You should now be able to add students:
